Our Story
Welcome to Chabad of S. Pedro, California, a vibrant Jewish community dedicated to spreading the light and warmth of Judaism to every Jew in our area. At Chabad of S. Pedro, we believe that every Jew is an integral part of our extended family, and we strive to create a welcoming and nurturing home away from home for everyone who walks through our doors.
Chabad of S. Pedro is proud to be affiliated with Chabad Lubavitch, a global movement that shares the beauty and values of Judaism with Jews from diverse backgrounds and affiliations. With a rich history dating back to the 18th century when Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi founded it, Chabad Lubavitch continues to follow the teachings and guidance of the esteemed Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory. Across the globe, Chabad Lubavitch operates thousands of centers, known as Chabad Houses, where Jews can come together to learn, pray, celebrate, and connect with their heritage in a warm and inclusive environment (click here to read all about Chabad).
In the summer of 2021, Rabbi Yisroel and Rebbetzin Bassie Shuchat moved to S. Pedro, California, intending to establish a Chabad center in the area. Their mission is to reach out to fellow Jews through engaging holiday programs, delivering freshly baked challah, and more, as they work tirelessly to bring the joy and warmth of Judaism to the local community.
Rabbi Yisroel and Rebbetzin Bassie Shuchat, proud parents of Aliza and Mendel, extend a heartfelt invitation for you to join them at Chabad of S. Pedro. Come and experience the richness of Jewish tradition, the joy of meaningful connections, and the warmth of a caring community. We look forward to welcoming you with open arms.
